I was happy to see it available in Kindle because so many people today rely on electronic devices. As the Gutenberg press helped spread Luther's writings, perhaps Kindle can help people understanding the 16th c. ecumenical confession of faith through Luther's theology. Rasmussen's inclusion of references to the American edition of Luther's works is very helpful since most Americans don't have access to the German Weimar Edition. This excellent translation reads smoothly and I am very happy to have it available to students, members and others pastors.

Whether you are a Scandinavian Lutheran who relies solely on the Augsburg Confession or a confessional Lutheran who upholds the entire Book of Concord you will find this to be an extremely helpful introduction to the AC. Grane explains the theology and background behind the terse statements of each article of the AC. Grane was a top notch Luther scholar who has written a work here useful both to entry level seminarians and laity alike. I used this book to teach the theology of the AC in light of Scripture to a group of Lutherans every week for several months.Excellent Resource.

If you want the book, DON'T buy the Large Print edition. Although it's cheaper, the print is unclear.If you want to know what Lutherans teach, then this is a book for you.I found it useful in my theology studies.

The Augsburg Confessions lays down the basic beliefs of the early Lutherans with commentary. The actual confession is very simple and to the point. The commentary elaborates and goes into detail, context, etc. I was amazed at the simplicity and conciseness.

This was a really interesting and exciting book. The hunt for Eichmann had so many dedicated and talented people involved, and so many twists and turns, it's better than any fiction story. You can't make this stuff up. The book covers Eichmann's life and evil deeds plus the amazing story of how he escaped the clutches of people searching for him for 15 years after the war -- finally tracking him to a remote town in Argentina. THEN, there's the exciting problem of abducting him and getting him to Israel to stand trial -- bravery and dedication from all involved. In the end, his capture and trial did much to publicize and elucidate the true dimensions of the Holocaust to the world, so 6 million souls were not written off and forgotten.I found this book to be a page turner. I had to keep re-charging my Kindle because I had to know how it all turned out.Good job, thoroughly researched and very well written.

I had read a very brief story on the capture of Adolf Eichmann in Reader's Digest years ago which, after reading this masterful narrative, fell far short of giving a full and well-deserved rich portrait of the many years long effort to discover whether Eichmann was alive or dead, and if alive, where in the world he might be. The work of the Israeli intelligence agency in doggedly pursuing Eichmann, planning his capture, and ultimately putting him on trial (and consummating his punishment) is amazing. I've read many books on WWII and Nazi Germany's genocide of the Jews, and was very aware of Eichmann's role, but this page turning narrative never misses a beat in taking us from the war years through the post-war trauma and search for Nazi war criminals, and the dogged efforts of the Mossad and others in doing so. Even after reading so many books on the subject, it is still incomprehensible how the German army could have become so cruelly intent on treating the Jews as nothing more than animals to be slaughtered - yet it happened. "I was only following orders" is the most oft-cited response of those captured and held accountable for their crimes. You will find edge of your seat suspense as the Israeli team closes in on Eichmann in Argentina and learn every detail of their extensive planning to not only capture him, but get him safely out of the country to return to Israel for trial. A brilliant non-stop book.

I watched the recent movie Operation Finale, and decide to read this book to get more information about the capture of Eichmann. The book exceeded my expectations, and I highly recommend it. The focus of this book is obviously the mission to capture Eichmann, but the author gives the reader much more: a concise background about Eichmann's important role in implementing the Holocaust as an enthusiastic Nazi SS Officer, a fascinating summary of his capture by and escape from Allied forces, his travel to and life in Argentina, and also an insightful description of Eichmann's trial, an important event in the history of Israel. The actual capture mission is the core of the book, and is very detailed and well-written. There are quite a few differences from the movie, and we learn how professional and dedicated the Mossad operatives were in real life. This was a daring and high risk operation in a hostile country. The author lets the reader draw his/her own conclusions about Eichmann's motives as a key cog in the Nazi's attempt to murder all of the Jews in Europe. It is important to remember that such evil exists, and learn how to prevent it from happening again.

Wow! I just finished this book and really enjoyed it. I appreciate how Bascomb went to so many different sources to cull his information and put it together into one captivating tome.I read almost everything I can find on WWII, especially relating to the Holocaust as the topic fascinates me. I feel like it somehow honors those who perished in a very small way to learn what I can about their lives and their experiences. In spite of all of the reading I have already done on the subject, this book added plenty of new dimension and understanding.In particular, I appreciate Bascomb's description of Germany, the Catholic Church, the United States, Great Britain, Argentina, etc, and the roles they took on with regard to finding Nazis after the war, and how the Eichmann trial impacted those approaches. I also gained a new appreciation for the formation of the nation of Israel, and how it came to be.In addition to appealing to history buffs, this is an excellent book for those who like spy thrillers. It was a page turner and many nights I could not put it down! Well worth the read.

It still focuses on grammar but it gives the child a break from grammar in each lesson with a writing assignment. It isn't just a writing prompt, but information on how to write and different types of writing with student examples as well.Each chapter is broken down into sections and each section gives the student an opportunity to practice and review the new skill learned. At the end of each chapter there is a cumulative review paragraph which the student must correct using the new skills learned in the chapter.I also love that the tests are in the back of the book. No need to have to buy separate test booklets.

An earlier reviewer really gives a good description on the strength of the book. My only motivation of writing this review is to sing praises and show my support for this style of writing. It is a wonderful book. I learned analysis in the past by reading Rudin, and I liked that book very much. But Prof. Tao's text is in a totally different style. My own opinion would be that both types of textbooks have their values.I can imagine that a serious student works hard through the text and gets the most out of it. But for me, due to time constraint, I read it in a more casual manner, just flipping through the pages. Yet, I still feel that I'm benefiting a lot from the book. It helps me clear my mind and see connections that I failed to see before.Overall, wonderful book! Whether you plan to work your way through it, or like me, just casually flip through it, it will be a fun experience!

I got in on the Vega Jane series late but had to wait for the last book. It was like I never missed a beat. The familiar returned instantly. Baldacci has an incredible mind and talent. I never like the end of a series, but this one didn't disappoint. The highs and lows; the happy and sad. All led to a culmination that both was and wasn't predicable. But that's Baldacci for you. I literally read this book in one sitting. Vega and her band were developed well and finished their mission. Well done David, well done.

I am an ardent Baldacci fan and have read nearly everything he has written. This is the 4th and presumably last of the Vega Jane series. If you haven't already, you need to read the prior three books. All I can say is, when will Vega Jane come to the screen? Great ending to a fabulous story line. This series shows the range of David, in that he has gone off into the magical realm of storytelling. Way to go David!

Exaggerated fantasy novels are not my immediate choice but I read the first Vega Jane and fell in love with the idea of the story and where it was to go. I accepted the wild ride along the way and wished it never stopped. Through logic to the wind and enjoy.

This fantasy world can only come from the mind of a creative genius. Baldacci paints a picture so curious and creative and then leads the reader on an adventure not unlike Tolkein. It's fun and exciting.

I enjoyed the different obstacles and beasts, the highs and lows, the joys and disappointments. Baldacci has an incredible imagination and and a wonderful way of telling a story. The Vega Jane series are completely different to his usual awesome works, but just as enjoyable.

A book that you don't want to put down; and you won't want the series to end. Not your typical Baldacci book but a story of fantasy. The twists and turns are riveting. Since it is fantasy, everything is believable. I've read the entire series and enjoyed the step outside of reality. Baldacci equals genius, a master of plots! If haven't read the first three books, do so before reading book #4 or you won't understand Vega Jane's story.

Even though I am nearly 80 years old these books fascinated me. Loved the magjc and the imaginative people as beastsAnother good vs evil story. Don't !st your age stop you!

A great Series with an enchanting story. This was a triumphant excellent fantasy.

About the Author

The late Jack Kirschenfeld was born in 1919 in Austria, came to the U.S. in 1923, and grew up in New York City.
