I would definitely recommend this curriculum since it has a nice mixture of writing and grammar. It still focuses on grammar but it gives the child a break from grammar in each lesson with a writing assignment. It isn't just a writing prompt, but information on how to write and different types of writing with student examples as well.Each chapter is broken down into sections and each section gives the student an opportunity to practice and review the new skill learned. At the end of each chapter there is a cumulative review paragraph which the student must correct using the new skills learned in the chapter.I also love that the tests are in the back of the book. No need to have to buy separate test booklets.

I bought it for my son's class at school, they used the same one last year except for the lower grade.
